New Chief Executive Appointed at Ngāi Te Rangi Iwi
The Chairman of Ngāi Te Rangi Iwi, Charlie Tawhiao today announced the appointment of the new CEO for Ngāi Te Rangi Iwi, Paora Stanley (Ngāi Tuwhiwhia, Ngāti Tapu).
Mr Stanley will be responsible for leading the operational arms of both the Ngāi Te Rangi Settlement Trust and Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Rangi Iwi Trust. He has been instrumental in designing and implementing health and social services programmes in Tauranga Moana in his role as Operations Manager for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Rangi Iwi Trust. Mr Stanley has recently returned to Tauranga Moana following three years in Quebec, Canada as CEO of an indigenous tribal organisation, Listuguj First Nation.
Mr Tawhiao said the board acknowledged the outstanding leadership of outgoing CEO, Penetaka Dickson.
“Over the past 25 years while Penetaka has been at the helm, Ngāi Te Rangi has experienced a level of stability that is the envy of many other iwi. We are deeply grateful for all he has achieved. E kore e mutu ngā mihi ki a ia me āna mahi rangatira. Me whakanui i a ia ka tika.”
The board also acknowledged outgoing General Manager of the Ngāi Te Rangi Settlement Trust, Maureen Ririnui.
“Her passion and drive to empower our Hapū Communities and the Board have been a hallmark of her time as GM. Kātahi te wahine toa ko tēnei. Nei rā te mihi maioha e te māreikura.”
Mr Tawhiao said there will be a transition period between October and December 2016 to ensure a seamless changeover. This will not affect the delivery of services currently offered by both Trusts.
Paora Stanley will take up his new role on 10 October.
